We will get the chance to create some cards again for LAPS OF LOVE! Brenda told me that they will be delivering 100 lapghans to the Avante home on December 7, so wouldn't it be AWESOME to make 100 Christmas cards to be delivered with the lapghans?<br /><br />We will meet next Friday, November 21, from 6-7:30 in the fellowship hall to create some awesome cards! Now, 100 cards IS a lot, so be sure to invite your friends and even your MOM! Yes, this is a great mother-child event! (Dads, you are invited, too... ;) )<br /><br />We will also be going TO the Avante home on Sunday, December 7, at 2:00. Stevie will be performing her interpretation on "Breath of Heaven", which I've not yet seen but heard is BEAUTIFUL! I will need several of you to do a dramatic reading of the Christmas story (from the Bible...not Little Ralphie). AND.....I am TRYING to put together a creative movement to the Casting Crowns song "The Word is Alive" to do on that day as well. This will likely be our creative movement for the talent showcase in January, too! So you guys who were asking me when we could do another creative movement... Examples of auction items may be babysitting or pet sitting. You may be good at math. If so, why not auction off a tutoring session for a younger student? Do you know how to operate a rake? Yes? Then volunteer a 1 hour raking session. The opportunities are many and diverse. I know there are a multitude of talents represented by our youth that God would love for you to use! Another opportunity to help raise money for missions is to help prepare, serve and clean up for the dinner. That's the date for this year's See You at the Pole event. This is an opportunity to gather with your peers at school and pray for your needs, teachers, administrators, athletics, rain, for God to lift up warriors in your school, pray for whatever. SYATP has become a worldwide phenomenon. It dates back to my days at Forest Hills High School. I can vividly remember as a sophomore gathering around the pole to pray with my friends Kevin and Daniel. I was PETRIFIED!! We were the only ones there and it felt like everybody was staring at us. However, it was a GREAT experience. By my senior year, SYATP was so big it had to be moved to the football stadium! <br /><br />I hope you will make plans to participate in your school's SYATP. I imagine that an organization such as C2J, FCA or other Christian group in your school already has a time and place decided. If not, you can take the lead and put it together yourself. It can be as simple as just praying that morning or as profound as having a guitarist lead in worship. Scheduled activities include making Christmas ornaments, decorating Christmas cookies, and playing games with the kids. We anticipate up to 40 BCH residents to be served. Please make arrangements to join us for this important event. We will leave the church sometime in the mid-morning and return in late in the evening.
