Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer. Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.

Blog Updates are Tough

I promised myself that I would not do this!!! When I started this blog, I vowed not to let it get stale. I very much dislike when websites/blogs are not updated with current info. Guess what?!?! Too late. I've already let it happen. But here's a little sumpin' for those of you who still check in on http://www.thetorchyouth.blogspot.com/ occasionally.

We are following Moses and the Israelites out of Egypt as our T.O.R.C.H. bible study topic for March 2008 is the book of Exodus. That brings up a good question...Which is the better movie on this topic? The Ten Commandments w/ Charlton Heston - A cinematic classic with (at the time) breakthrough special effects. OR The Prince of Egypt cartoon - The scene where God appears to Moses in the burning bush is awesome. OR Is there another that I'm not familiar with? Don't think this is a "poll-worthy" question, it just came to mind.

Limber up for our next opportunity to lead in Sunday morning worship. May is tentatively set as the date for a sign language/interpretative movement to the song Hallelujahs by Chris Rice. Everyone is invited (EXPECTED j/k) to participate. Seriously, it would be great for some of our guys and high schoolers to be involved in our creative ministry presentations. Be on the lookout for rehearsal times and dates.

PROPS ON A POST
Okay, this is a new section of the blog called PROPS ON A POST, as you can see. This is intended to highlight some good stuff or outstanding individuals in our youth group. There are two Props to be handed out this time. The envelope please...
1- Excellent performance on the Mercy Came (A)-Running creative movement, Madison, Carly and Victoria. PROPS 2 U!
2- It was awesome seeing the amount of you who came out to March's FNF at Sports Connection. Even better was seeing the visitors/friends that you brought with you, Max, Victoria and Daniel. PROPS 2 U!

Yay to all of you who received props! Hmm...The Ten Commandments will always hold a special place in my heart. I guess that's because I'm old, as one of the children in our church pointed out! But I do LOVE Prince of Egypt. It's pretty accurate, and who doesn't love a good cartoon?? ;)
